Preparations continue for the historic 200th Anniversary celebration of the Odwira Festival, bringing together heritage, remembrance, culture, development, and the future of Okuapemman.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Odwira Festival Launch, scheduled for Tuesday, 10th March 2026, at the Okuapehene’s Palace, Akropong.
“200 Years of Odwira: Honouring Our Heritage, Securing Our Future.”
Three different logo options were presented to the Committee. After deliberation, members selected the design believed to best represent the spirit, identity, heritage, and vision of the 200th Anniversary Odwira Festival.
The official logo symbolizes unity, tradition, remembrance, cultural pride, and the enduring legacy of Okuapemman.
Some Nananom proposed that black attire be worn during the launch ceremony as a symbol of remembrance, honour, and appreciation for the sacrifices made by our ancestors.
Discussions were held on whether the launch should take place at Mpeniase (Palace Forecourt) or inside the Palace itself.
Nananom later agreed that the launch should be held within the Palace due to concerns regarding weather conditions, attendance, and logistical costs.
However, if conditions improve before the launch date, the venue may be moved to the Palace Forecourt.
The Committee previously approved approximately 27 activities to be held throughout the year as part of the 200th Anniversary celebrations.
